Around Western Montana, a lot of homeowners aren’t sure when to schedule service. If you have both heating and AC (most homes do), we recommend two check-ups a year: once in the spring before summer heat hits, and once in the fall before the cold sets in.
If your furnace keeps shutting off, it is usually a clogged filter, a bad thermostat, or a dirty flame sensor that’s triping the safety and stoping the heat. Change the filter and check the vents.
If your AC will not turn on, start by checking the breaker and making sure the thermostat is set right. If those are fine, a dirty filter or a full drain pan can keep it from starting.
If your heater is blowing cold air, it’s most likely the thermostat being set wrong, the pilot is out, or the filter is backed up. If it starts warm then goes cold, it may be overheating and shutting off, so check the filter and make sure the vents are open.
